What do the laser hair removal treatments feel like?

The CoolGlide handpiece cools and soothes as it glides along your skin. Some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation during treatment. No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required, however, some patients may prefer to use a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are treated.





How many laser hair removal treatments will I need?

Most areas require 3 to 6 treatments. The number of treatments needed for optimal long-term benefits depends on hair thickness, the area treated and your hair's growth cycle. Not all hairs are actively growing at the same time and actually go through three phases including growth, regression and resting. The CoolGlide laser treatments disable the hairs that are in their active growth phase at the time of the treatment. Since other hairs will enter the active growth phase at different times additional treatments are necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in a particular area.

What happens after laser hair removal treament?

Immediately following your laser hair removal treatment the area may appear slightly red and swollen. Three to seven days after treatment you may experience what seems like hair regrowth. Most of these hairs are actually being shed as a result of the treatment and are not regrowing. Between treatments you should not wax or pluck your hair but you may shave.
